5 new birds added to those seen during previous counts: Savannah Sparrow, Eastern Meadowlark, Common Grackle, American Woodcock, and Wilson’s Snipe
Why the drop in our total number this year? Some of the reasons suggested by our experienced birders were: northern temperatures have been relatively warm so far this year which may have caused some migrants to slow their migration to the south, or perhaps our heavy rains caused some birds to change location. Numbers for most teams were down, with birds especially scare in the afternoon hours.
